Perioperative Outcomes Following Carotid Revascularization for Stroke Stratified by Modified Rankin Scale and Time of Intervention

چکیده

The relationship between modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and optimal timing of carotid revascularization in patients with prior stroke is unclear. Therefore, we compared outcomes transfemoral artery stenting (TFCAS), transcarotid (TCAR), endarterectomy (CEA) after stroke, stratified by accounting for preoperative mRS time-to-intervention. We identified all who underwent TFCAS, TCAR, CEA a recent the Vascular Quality Initiative 2012 to 2020. Patients were into four groups (mRS 0-1, 2, 3-4, 5) based on days from symptom onset (≤2 days, 3-14 15-90 91-180 days). Primary outcome was in-hospital stroke/death rate TFCAS vs TCAR CEA, within different time-to-intervention groups. 4415 3138 20,062 CEA. most likely have minimal disability 0-1; 61%) least severe 5; 1.5%). often 3 14 (45%) 91 180 (8.6%). Outcomes validity and reliability of the modified Rankin scale: implications for stroke clinical trials: a literature review and synthesis.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The modified Rankin scale (mRS), a clinician-reported measure of global disability, is widely applied for evaluating stroke patient outcomes and as an end point in randomized clinical trials. Extensive evidence on the validity of the mRS exists across a large but fragmented literature. As new treatments for acute ischemic stroke are submitted for agency approval, an appre...

Influence of stroke infarct location on functional outcome measured by the modified rankin scale.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In the early days after ischemic stroke, information on structural brain damage from MRI supports prognosis of functional outcome. It is rated widely by the modified Rankin Scale that correlates only moderately with lesion volume. We therefore aimed to elucidate the influence of lesion location from early MRI (days 2-3) on functional outcome after 1 month using voxel-base...

Reliability of the modified Rankin Scale.

Background and Purpose—A perceived weakness of the modified Rankin Scale is potential for interobserver variability. We undertook a systematic review of modified Rankin Scale reliability studies. Methods—Two researchers independently reviewed the literature. Crossdisciplinary electronic databases were interrogated using the following key words: Stroke*; Cerebrovasc*; Modified Rankin*; Rankin Sc...

Reliability of the modified Rankin Scale applied by telephone

We aimed to evaluate the reliability of the modified Rankin Scale applied telephonically compared with face-to-face assessment in clinically stable hospitalized patients with acute stroke. One hundred and thirty-one patients were interviewed twice by 2 certified nurses (unstructured interview). Half of the patients were randomized to be interviewed by telephone followed by the face-to-face asse...
